our hunch is that life with God is better than life without God

our hunger is to connect with something greater than ourselves

our hope is that the best is yet to come

Join us this Sunday as we continue in the sermon series: “Advent Conspiracy”! Come and conspire with us as we aim to do Christmas right this year!

This Sunday, P. Sam will share Part 3 of the series in a message entitled “Give More”. Come and hear about how we can give more of our presence rather than just give more of our presents this year at Christmas.

11:30 AM @ 1411 Oak Street in Alameda

We believe that faith is not meant to be lived alone.

EMBRACE is gathering a sincere and seeking community of wanderers and wonderers who desire to build a life with God and with each other.

We are people from different walks of life – representing a diversity of spiritual experiences – but holding together in common the hunch that life with God is better than life without God and that life is best lived out in community.

We believe that worship honors God and fills our souls.

EMBRACE comes together every Sunday for a moment of singing, praying, listening and responding.

We believe that worship is the primary way of being in relationship with God – to connect with something greater – and that such a relationship moves us to take action.

We believe that following Jesus means creating impact.

EMBRACE is committed to inspiring and equipping people to make a positive difference in the lives of those we know and in the world in which we live. We take seriously Jesus’ command for us to love God and to love people through the intentional use of our time, talents and treasures.

Because our hope is that the best is yet to come, we are in constant pursuit of God’s vision for wholeness and welfare for all.

We’ll see you this Sunday!

ADVENT CONSPIRACY Sermon Series

November 26 – December 24, 2017

The Christmas season should be so much more than what it has now become: a consumer oriented, hectic time of year where people get increasingly more stressed, more busy and more materialistic. It seems that many have lost what should be central to the season we call Advent: the awe-inducing, soul-satisfying mystery of the incarnation. In the birth of Jesus, we are told that God came near to us. The best gift at Christmas is always the gift of His presence. Our focus should be on Jesus. He is the reason for the season. But unfortunately, people now believed the marketing lie that spending money is the best way to express love.  This, combined with the American mindset that “more must be better” is what consumes most people at Christmas. The result, $600 billion is spent on Christmas every year, and still most everyone misses the main the point of Christmas: it’s about Jesus.

The Advent Conspiracy is an effort to join a movement that does Christmas differently – the way that it was originally intended to be done. It puts Jesus at the center and puts His purpose in our hearts: to worship fully, spend less, give more and love all. The Advent Conspiracy is the belief that Christmas – the real Christmas – can still change the world. And it can certainly change us.

This Sunday, P. Sam will be sharing Part 3 of the Advent Conspiracy in a message entitled, “Give More”.

Christmas is the time to remember that Jesus is Emmanuel – God with us. The “with-God” life is what brings us together as the EMBRACE community. And so, during this blessed season, we make a greater effort to remember the presence of God in our lives and to emulate God’s “with-ness” to the people around us. As we spend less on presents, we are called to give more of our presence. Give more of our attention. Give more of our time. Give more of our love. Give more of our hearts. In the same way that God’s greatest gift to humanity was God-self, may our greatest gift to each other be our-self.
